Inspired by the chess fever that has gripped my home (junior division thereof), and with a nod to Alice Through the Looking Glass, this shows the Red Queen swooping across the board like a mother tigress to defend her knight. We have to assume, I think, that there is another pawn out of sight off the right-hand corner of the picture defending the white knight, and also, despite what it looks like due to my failures of perspective, that the Red Queen and her knight are not standing on the same square, which would of course be against the laws of the game. Actually the Red Queen is standing directly behind her pawn, while the Red Knight is under attack from the white one. And yes, I realise that the squares are not square. Finally, as regards the position of the two kings, or indeed of any other pieces or pawns, I fear that I am not at liberty to divulge that information.
