Bird People: Little Green Bee Eaters of Upper Egypt
These are bird people: magic birds with human heads. They are little green bee-eaters who swoop
through the skies of Upper Egypt like green swallows with wings that flash copper-coloured in the sun,
while their heads are the heads seen in Ancient Egyptian tomb paintings. They fly over the banks of the Nile
and through the gardens of Luxor, and beneath them ancient Pharaohs sleep.
This picture was shortlisted to appear on the cover of the printed guide to the Oxfordshire Artweeks festival 2011,
and a tiny thumbnail of it appears in the banner of the Oxfordshire Artweeks 2011 website.
